Happy May Day!

I am not gonna lie. I’m pretty baffled by the fact that it’s been 10 years since I wrote, “May Day.”

Instead of fretting over how fast the time flies, I have decided to gift you with the song in celebration. . . It was recorded on “Right Where I Belong” in 2005. Originally, I had named it “M’aider” as in “help me” in French. . . but that didn’t go over so great commercially here in the states, so I decided to go with the English version. . .

So, I’m back in the States and I am gearing up for some exciting things this spring/summer. I have started training for an Olympic Distance Triathlon. . . That’s about a mile swim, 23ish mile bike and a little over a 6 mile run. . . I’m psyched to explore and surpass my perceived physical, emotional and mental limitations through this experience. . . Sore as all hell, but very inspired. . . I’ll keep you posted here!

Next Friday, May 11th is the REALLY REALLY BIG SHOW– This time it’s at Threadgill’s on Riverside under the stars. . . My band & Dave Madden’s bands will be accompanied with full horn section and Tameca Jones will complete the evening with her silky brown sugar songs. We will also have guest appearances from jugglers, dancers, acrobats and Laura Scarborough will be doing amazing hula-hoop dancing. . . The really amazing thing is that the ticket price is only $10. Lord have mercy! You have to come!

In June, I have the distinct honor of performing in a sortof supergroup with some of Austin’s most beloved artists at the Austin City Limits home, the Moody Theater for a very unique show! Guy Forsyth, Patrice Pike, Ginger Leigh, John Pointer and Myself will join together in ONE group backed by Jeff & Nina Botta on drums and bass and Stuart Cochran on keys. Pretty amazing, eh?
