In honor of early voting, I’d love to take a moment to spotlight a friend and an organization I greatly admire here in Austin, Take5ToVote – www.facebook.com/Take5ATX.

14568233_956926457752990_6396048782955638122_nAustin residents, if you’re looking for a non-partisan way to help your community vote this election, here’s a real organization in your town doing great work.

Take5ToVote was started by my dear friend Natasha Madison, a brilliant woman who is tirelessly community-focused and always finding opportunities to overcome adversity in our culture and community.  She has been working with a great team in Austin to form Take5ToVote and empower Austinites to vote this season.

“Take 5’s mission is to raise our voices, rally our networks and do our part to make sure voters vote on Election Day. Everyone who is able to vote…votes. That’s a lofty goal, let’s become civically educated together. Important ballot information will be discussed in 15 minute talks all day. On Sunday, October 30th at Urban Co-Lab, we’ll have live music waiting for you outside on the Love & Mercy stage, food trucks for big appetites and small bites to get you by.”

They are doing everything they can to recruit new voters, educate new and existing voters on the many ballot items in Austin and they are even helping voters who do not or can not drive get a ride to their local polls.
