Wow.

What a year. So many peaks and valleys for so many of us.  My heart is with you all, wishing you a peaceful, hope and love-filled transition into a new year.

For me, 2016 has been an incredible journey. While there have been many challenges throughout the year, so many things that felt so impossible to achieve have become reality.

Above all else, I am grateful for the tribe around me. You inspire me. Our shared humanity, challenges and growth humbles and moves me to be a better person, performer, artist and steward of the precious gifts in life.  Thank you.

Below is a little recap of things we’ve accomplished together this year, works in progress and some things I’m grateful to celebrate as we move into a new year.

Austin’s New Year 2017

I’m honored to be included in the City of Austin’s family-friendly New Year’s Celebration at Auditorium Shores this NYE alongside folks like Tameca Jones, Ray Wiley Hubbard & Kevin Russell of Shinyribs.
We perform at 7:00PM. There’s awesome music all afternoon and evening followed by fireworks. Bring the kids and come dance away 2016 with us!

Tips Concerts

We started the year building a deck and roof for my little, humble vintage camper-home. One nail at a time, in a few short months, we managed to complete a beautiful space and transform it into a venue, Tips Concerts for so many folks to enjoy beautiful music.  We are taking suggestions for 2017 Concerts. Read More Here.

Black Fret Major Grant Winner 2016

Many of my closest friends and fans aren’t sure what I’m talking about when I mention Black Fret.  So, I wrote a blog about Austin’s finest, patron-based music nonprofit and what it means to me last week.

No time to read the blog? Here’s the skinny:

On Dec 10th, I was honored to be among 10 Austin-based artists awarded a $17,000 grant from Black Fret, 10 more artists who were nominees in 2016 were also awarded $5000 and are eligible for a second nomination in 2017.

I’m blown away.

Black Fret believes that the artists they have selected will enrich their careers by “unlocking” their grants in installments.  I will spend the next year of my career unlocking the grant incrementally by performing, recording, writing and doing service work performing to help other nonprofits.  Each of these tasks unlocks a certain dollar amount.

Curious about learning more about this amazing organization? Check out their cool new website www.blackfret.org to learn more!

Thank you all for making 2016 one of my most memorable years to date.
With Love & Gratitude,

Wendy Colonna
