You might know her as the voice of Coca-Cola, the melodic breeze that lifts a red balloon through a series of tender familial moments. Or you may have heard her at Antone’s, at the Kerrville Folk Festival, or singing the praises of her birth state for the Louisiana Tourist Bureau. Though she’s called Austin home since 2000, Wendy Colonna’s soulful voice has been described as “grit-infused honey,” a characterization we think is highly accurate. She can turn on a dime from whisper to full out bluesy bayou, which is part of what makes her performances so compelling. You can listen to a sample of her music here.
A 2017 finalist in the Kerrville New Folk Competition, Colonna has been called a “force of nature” and “Austin’s best singer/songwriter” by the Austin-American Statesman. The New York Times describes her music as “ethereal” and her work has drawn the attention of the Wall Street Journal, NPR and the Huffington Post (among others.) After releasing seven acclaimed albums and producing perhaps her most cherished collaboration (her first son with husband Ryan Doty) Colonna is currently working on album number eight. Come spend an evening listening to her musical stories, which are sure to to soothe, electrify and inspire. You can listen to one of our favorite tracks from her newest album here. You can also watch one of her live performances here.
