About Ernie

Ernest Joseph Colonna Jr., 71 years old, passed peacefully in the comfort of his own home on December 8, 2017. He was a fine carpenter who loved music, baseball, dancing and had a quick wit with a contagious laugh. He was a unique and unforgettable man who’s love and passion illuminated many lives.

Ernie was originally from North Kingstown, RI, but he spent the last 42 years actively supporting the Southwest Louisiana community. He was committed to environmental justice with a long history serving C.L.E.A.N. He was active in the local arts and humanities for many years as a volunteer for the Banners’ Series. His faith led him to serve as a member of the vestry at St Michael’s and All Angels and he praised God with his beautiful baritone voice in the St Michael’s choir. Outside of his children, his most lasting legacy is transforming countless lives over his 25 years of service to the recovery community.

He joyfully spent the Thanksgiving holiday with his three children, Jacob, Matthew and Wendy, her husband, Ryan and his grandson, Charlie before he passed. He is also survived by a sister, Diane Slader and a brother, Andy Colonna.
