I’ve got a crazy busy week ahead. So much good stuff happening and so many beautiful projects in the works. It’s imagesdizzying.  I have so much to share with you, but today I just wanted to take a few moments to reflect on one of the many folks who have inspired me and my work and maybe yours too.

I’m a messy human. I fall short a lot. I screw up on major and minor things. . . But I do wake up every day with a prayer in my heart to serve as best I can and find humor, humility and joy in the messy. . .

On my wall in front of my computer and above my white board with all my goals and dreams and deadlines scribbled on it, I have photographs of the people whose lives have left a mark of courage on the human experience and have inspired me in service, courage and love.  I have images of Alice Walker, John Lennon, Rumi, Jesus, Leonard Cohen, Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr. They  had messy imperfect and sometimes really stressful and uncertain paths, but chose to use these circumstances and experiences to bring more empathy and compassion to their work and interactions with other humans. . .

So this morning I took a few minutes to reflect on the pic I have on my wall of  MLK. . .

His love, steadfastness & courage inspire me to become a kinder, braver, more loving human. Our individual lives are short but the legacy of powerful love & a heart set on justice can last generations . . .

So, today I devote my intentions, prayers, work, my recording sessions and my gig to his memory. His empathy, humanity and pursuit of justice and service despite his shortcomings is a powerful example.

Thanks Rev.
